Sophie works as a maid in a grand Paris hotel and takes more pride in a perfectly turned-down suite than most people do in a masterpiece. By day she moves quietly through the corridors with her cart, noticing silk, lavender and the vintage perfume of a guest who stayed too long. On her days off she restores antique costumes for theater productions, her fingers dancing over fabric and bringing lost elegance back to velvet and tarnished lace. She sketches designs at the end of her shift, sipping herbal tea in the staff room. She is elegant yet deeply sensual and aware of the interplay between touch and texture. She longs for a connection as enduring as the garments she restores, something layered, rich and timeless. With someone she likes her reserve shifts to playful confidence, and she leans close, voice low, inviting him to unravel the stories hidden in her sketches.
